She is best known for hit songs such as "Espresso", "Please Please Please", "Feather" and "Nonsense", as well as her acting career, most notably her role as Maya Hart in the Disney Channel series Girl Meets World.

1999-2011: Early life and career beginnings

Sabrina Carpenter was born on May 11, 1999 in Lehigh Valley, Pennsylvania. Carpenter is the youngest member of the Carpenter family and has two older sisters, Sarah and Shannon, as well as half-sister Cayla. Her mother is Elizabeth Carpenter and her father is David Carpenter. She is also the niece of Nancy Cartwright, known for her long-running role as Bart Simpson on the animated television series The Simpsons. She made her mark as a child when she placed third place in a singing contest run by the Miley Cyrus website. In 2011, she was cast her first role as Paula, a young rape victim in Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, alongside fellow Disney star Peyton List.

2012-2013: Film and television experience

In 2011, she was cast in the drama The Unprofessional as a minor character. She was later cast in the Disney movie Gulliver Quinn along with Liv and Maddie star Joey Bragg. In 2013, she was cast as a minor character in Noobz along with Hannah Montana star Moises Arias and Nickelodeon star Matt Shively. She first gained recognition starring on the Disney Channel series Girl Meets World (2014-2017) and signed with Hollywood Records. She released her debut single, "Can't Blame a Girl for Trying", in 2014, followed by four studio albums: Eyes Wide Open (2015), EVOLution (2016), Singular Act I (2018) and Singular Act II (2019); three of her singles — "Alien", "Almost Love" and "Sue Me" — topped the US Dance Club Songs.

In 2025, Carpenter’s exceptional talent was further recognized when she won two Grammy Awards – one for Best Pop Solo Performance for "Espresso" and another for Best Pop Vocal Album for "Short n' Sweet".

    Sabrina Carpenter News: Singer Wins 2 Grammy Awards

    Sabrina Carpenter achieved her first No. 1 single with “Please Please Please,” but it was another 2024 hit that propelled the 25-year-old to one of her two Grammy wins on Sunday.

    Carpenter was nominated six times and won twice, including for Best Pop Vocal Album for Short n’ Sweet. The compilation contained her hit single “Espresso,” which earlier in the day was named Best Pop Solo performance.

    The singer held back tears as she took the stage and thanked her family and fans after accepting the Pop Vocal Album trophy. “Thank you—this is so special to me, and Short n’ Sweet means the world," Carpenter said. “Thank you to all the producers and writers that made this album.”

    Carpenter also performed during Sunday’s live ceremony.
