I guess it’s easier to be kind to somebody who looks up to you.
Fiona Dourif played Professor Youens’ daughter, Tabitha. She had a real hard time with her father’s alcoholism and it was probably a lot tougher for her to listen to his students’ glowing tributes than it was for Lip. Aw, Tabitha, we think it was more of a case of the students not needing your father to be sober like you did.
Professor Youens was like a father to us
John (PJ Johal) and Wendy (Emily Happe) were two of the students who spoke at the memorial, making Lip feel that he was not as special as he thought, so he got up and left. Tabitha tried to correct that impression with a recommendation letter she found in which Youens said Lip’s mind was amazing. Tabitha said she never heard her father talk that way about any other student.
You were an escort for a time, weren’t you?
Richard Herd played Gerald, the luxury cigar importer who was the first to respond to Svetlana’s ad for a mate: “Sassy Russian ex-prostitute seeks single geriatric male with piles of money and a terminal illness.” Gerald was more interested in Svetlana’s old profession. He didn’t have a terminal illness, but he did get a punch in nose when he offered her $40 for 30 minutes in his vehicle.
I’m a pastor at Trinity and Life Evangelical and this is Alice
Becca Blackwell played Father Murphy. He introduced Ian to a little girl named Alice (Alison Kendre Livas) who drew the Gay Jesus picture, and later asked Ian to come to his church to minister to his flock. Ian confessed to Fiona that all the attention he was getting was a little overwhelming but he liked it and was trying to find a way to manage it.

Philipps was born in Oak Park, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago. She received the nickname "Busy" as a child; sources conflict on whether the nickname came from her parents or a babysitter named Susie. She said on her late-night talk show, Busy Tonight, that her mother gave her the nickname, but during her book tour said that her babysitter had given it to her. This was clarified on an episode of Comedy Bang! Bang! when she confirmed to host Scott Aukerman that it was her babysitter. Phillips was raised in Scottsdale, Arizona, where she graduated from Chaparral High School. Phillips attended Loyola Marymount University at the same time as Colin Hanks and Freaks and Geeks costar Linda Cardellini. She then dated Hanks for several years, after they left school.
