Ruler of Kashmir Ananta or King Ananta, also known as Anantadeva, was a king of Kashmir who reigned for 40 years from 1028 to 1068 CE. He belonged to the Lohara dynasty. Ananta (Sanskrit: अनन्त ) is the Sanskrit term for that which is infinite due to unending element. At a young age, Ananta succeeded his close relative — who possibly ruled the region for less than a month — on the throne of Kashmir. According to the Kashmiri historian Kalhana, Ananta's mother, Srilekha, attempted to kill the reigning king to rise to power herself. However, the Ekanga nobles and royal bodyguards interceded to crown Ananta instead. Srilekha became the regent for the young king. King Ananta's administration was well organized when his reign began, but his top officials were corrupt and quickly caused instability in the kingdom. He devoted significant effort to restoring the effectiveness of the existing administration but was unsuccessful, and his failure resulted in the division of the kingdom into many mandalas (modern: divisions). His wife, a wise queen, reformed state finances. This consolidated his power, and as a result, the government was strengthened jointly by the king and his wife. Historians of the 11th century recorded his administration as "always-divided". It is also recorded that his wife removed all dishonest officials and recruited new ones. It has been said that the king was an affectionate person and was known for appointing previous enemies to offices in the Aksapatal (modern: tax collection department). Ananta is believed to have won many victories over other kings during his reign, but evidence collected by historians does not yet confirm this. Tribhuvana was the commander-in-chief of his army, whose force Ananta Roosens creates music, using mainly the violin, trumpet and her voice. With her life project ‘Ceci n’est pas un violon’ (or ‘This is not a violin’ referring to the famous painting by René Magritte) Ananta breaks out of her comfort zone and with her violins, her vocal cords and some household wares she goes on an unexpected journey towards the unknown. Secondly, to intensify the experience and double the opportunities, Ananta has been inviting other musicians to interchange their musical worlds: with Mostafa Taleb on kamanche (Iranian violin) she recorded the album ‘Chapelle de Verre’ out on vinyl & Bandcamp. She also has a duo with Kaito Winse from Burkina Faso on flutes and percussion. With the Portuguese guitar player Norberto Lobo she made an album that will be released soon. Apart from her own projects, she regularly writes music for dance company Studio Eclipse and collaborates with her sister and choreographer Satya Roosens such as for ‘Fallen Thoughts‘, ‘Trapped Inside’ and ‘Veni, Vidi, Venus’. They are currently working on the creation ‘labo van de tederheid’. Also for Kurt Demey’s La ville Qui Respire she has written the soundtrack. She has played with many musicians and projects such as: Benjamin Sauzereau (Remorque, duo, …), Annemie Osborne, Lynn Cassiers’ Imaginary Band, Oba Loba, Fnüssjen (avec Nicolas Chkifi, Ann Eysermans, Christian Mendoza), La Farkas (duo avec Csilla Deak), Giovanni Di Domenico, Ibrahim Ferrer (Buena Vista Social Club), Bao Sissoko, Lyenn, John Birdsong, Thé Lau, Mógil, Joris Vanvinckenroye and many more … South America: Ananta played in many different projects that were related to the music of Argentina, with groups and musicians such as: Melingo, Hernán Reinaudo, Gotan Project (world tour in 2010-2011), Lalo Zanelli, Pablo Agri, Pavadita, Nicolas Enri
