Manit joura biography for kids

Before beginning his acting career in television and films, Manit Jourawas a theatre student in Delhi and was a frequent visitor to Mandi House – doing small parts in plays and attending theatre rehearsals for hours. The actor started acting soon after completing school – when he was in his first year at Ramjas College. During his recent visit to his hometown, Manit told us about his theatre days in Delhi, what prompted him to shift base to Mumbai and more.
‘I’m thankful to NSD for making me realise that acting was my true calling’
Was he always inclined towards taking up acting as his career, we ask Manit.“When others studying with me were preparing for chartered accountancy and civil services exams, I was sure that I wanted to do something different. I would always be thankful to NSD (National School Of Drama) for giving me that direction and making me realise that acting was my true calling,” says the actor. Recollecting his earliest outings on the stage, he adds, “When I was in the first year of my college, I came across a notice that an actor was required to do a small part in the play Rakt Abhishek. I was always on the lookout for such information, followed up on it and got a chance to be a part of that play. Though it was a small part, I would rehearse for hours, watch other senior actors perform and loved the whole process. Being on stage gave me a different high, and I realised that I wanted nothing more than that.” Talking about how the shift to Mumbai happened, he shares, “I did some acting workshops at NSD and was advised by my directors and seniors that I should go to Mumbai, as I was perfect for the screen. I did around five plays here before going to Mumbai.”
