Bayli Baker Thompson Dance Educator

Bayli (Baker) Thompson was born into the dance and entertainment industry. With an Emmy-award-winning choreographer for a mom, she grew up mentored by some of the biggest choreographers and directors in the world. Dancing professionally by 12-years-old, and choreographing professionally by 14, Bayli’s knowledge base is wide-reaching. Assisting and being mentored by directors/choreographers Kenny Ortega, Vincent Paterson, Liz Imperio, Bonnie Story and Chucky Klapow early in her career, Bayli learned how not just to teach moves, but to connect, impact, and draw the best out in artists. While gaining professional industry experience, Bayli always continued her education. She is a Certified Pilates Instructor and a Certified Health & Life Coach. She has always been passionate about the development of dancers as whole, unique individuals and not just as performers. She wants artists to understand how all the time, passion, and love they are pouring into dance isn’t just making better dancers, but better people. Bayli has a program —“Shifting Pointe”— that inspires dancers to think differently about their approach to life and dance by strategically bringing understanding that dance does not define them as individuals, but pours a foundation for the person they are becoming.

Bayli has been blessed with a flourishing career as a dancer and choreographer. At 12-years-old, Bayli became the youngest principal dancer in Disney’s “High School Musical” and “High School Musical 2”, and was a cheerleader, principal dancer, and assistant choreographer for Disney’s feature film “High School Musical 3”. She has since gone on to choreograph for the Disney Channel and has worked on countless films for Disney, MTV, Hallmark, and David Lynch Films. She has choreographed and danced in commercials for BMW, Nuskin, Vivint, Courtyard Marriott Hotels, Columbus Zoo, Twisty Girls, Infocus Projections, Columbia Outerwear, Zions Bank, Foundation For a B

  • Undergraduate Internship Guide

This past summer I had the opportunity of being a buyer intern in the dresses department for Bealls Stores located in Bradenton, FL! Throughout the internship, I learned the roles and responsibilities of being a merchandise assistant, assistant buyer, and a senior level buyer. My daily activities consisted of excel training, communicating with vendors, entering purchase orders, using reporting cubes, and working on various projects.

During my internship, I was assigned a simple project; to come up with a name, concept, general assortment, and overall store presence for our new maternity line. While my buyer was at market, I came up with a concept board and presentation to show her. A few weeks later, I was presenting in front of our President Matt Beall! During my last week, the name "Me + My" made it through marketing and is becoming a new exclusive brand! I am so filled with excitement to know I made a difference during my internship here at Bealls. Don't be just the "intern", you never know what kind of impact you can make. Look out for Me & My Maternity in Bealls Stores this fall!

This has been the most rewarding experience! Throughout the 10 weeks I spent here, I was able to shadow the VP's of planning & allocations, product development, marketing, and more. Doing so allowed me to figure out exactly what I want to do in this industry, and that's being a buyer on a corporate level! I know that I will confidently carry everything I've learned wherever I go. From entering hundreds of PO's, introducing a new exclusive maternity line, and successfully completing an intern group project presented in front of the entire office. Thank you Bealls for bringing me out of my comfort zone, and most importantly, making me feel like I was a part of the team!

Undergraduate Student Government is one of the many Student Club Organizations on the Marion Campus to get involved in. In the past, USG has helped implement Graduation Celebration for Seniors, making Student Club Funding more about students, advocating to update classroom furniture on campus, helping students find answers to their questions, and bridging the gap between students and faculty/staff on campus.

We asked USG members about their participation in the club, what they’ve accomplished, and what they gained from being in the club, especially in a high standing leadership position.

USG is still accepting applications for the 2020-2021 Academic Year! Don’t miss this opportunity to be a leader on campus. Contact Karen Leuthold.12 or Sanders.822 for an application and get involved!

If you ever have any issues or questions you’d like to bring up to USG, please don’t hesitate to contact them at their email:  or reaching out to President Bayli Sanders.822 or club advisor Karen Leuthold.12

I became a USG member because in my work as a peer leader, I was hearing concerns and student issues that I wanted to be able to directly address at a university level. I knew a few people who were already involved with USG and it seemed like a place where I could help do a lot of good in the campus community.

Most of my efforts in USG have been focused on helping improve communication between students and staff (e.g. working to help improve advisor-student interactions, or bringing concerns about the facilitates to the attention of staff) and also working with other USG members to bring things like an on campus graduation celebration to Marion, or advocating for additional mental health support systems. Currently, I’m working to help staff and faculty move graduation events to an online format.

One thing USG has helped me do is to self-dire
