The Katipunan was a secret organization founded in Manila in 1882 by Filipino patriots to launch a revolution against Spanish colonial rule. Led by Andres Bonifacio, the Katipunan's goal was to liberate the Filipino people from oppression. The Kartilya ng Katipunan, authored by Jacinto and amended by Bonifacio, served as the organization's guidebook containing rules and principles. It emphasized moral virtues, civic duties, and the need for political separation from Spain. The Katipunan's discovery in 1896 led to the outbreak of the Philippine Revolution.

The house on #72 Paseo de Azcarraga (now the corner of Recto and Elcano in downtown Manila) is no more, but we have photos of it (upper and lower Right). Even a prewar bronze plaque, seen on the lower right photo with an arrow. Roughly translated from the original Spanish it reads:
"The Filipino People, by the durability of bronze, consecrates and perpetuates the historical value of this house cradle [of the Revolution] where on 6 July 1892 [new marker states July 7]was born to fight and triumph, headed by Andres Bonifacio, the very highest and very respectable association of the sons of the country, the Katipunan."
A memorial complete with bronze figures now stands close to the site, largely ignored 364 days a year, but spruced up for the annual commemoration on July 7. Historical and heritage sites are seen but seldom noticed, thats why you need to make an effort to remember.

“By the durability of bronze” sounds like they snuck in an ad for the plaque industry

It so sad that only the marker where the site of the Katipunan was formed but in my opinion, all of those markers and remaining ancestral houses, and other historical sites should defend and preserve. And this one when the La Liga Filipina was out of t…
